Drake’s Childhood and First Work in Toronto
Drake grew up in Toronto with his mother, Sandi Graham, after his parents separated. His father, Dennis Graham, worked as a musician. Music was part of Drake’s family history, but acting gave him his first steady work in entertainment. He attended school in Toronto and later spoke about how his Black and Jewish background shaped his sense of identity.
In 2001, he joined the cast of Degrassi: The Next Generation as Jimmy Brooks. Jimmy was a student and basketball player whose story changed after a school shooting left him using a wheelchair. Drake spent years on the series before music became his main career. He completed his high school education in 2012, after his television work and early music releases had already made him famous.
From Degrassi to So Far Gone
Drake began to release music while he still appeared on Degrassi. His first mixtape, Room for Improvement, came out in 2006, followed by Comeback Season in 2007. These projects let him develop a style that moved between rap verses and sung hooks. His first studio album had yet to arrive, but the mixtapes gave listeners a clear sense of the artist he wanted to become.
The major step came with So Far Gone in 2009. Its single Best I Ever Had reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Drake signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment that year. Thank Me Later, his first studio album, followed in 2010 and reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The order matters: Drake had released music for several years before his debut album appeared.
Albums, Hits, and Grammy Awards
Drake’s second studio album, Take Care, arrived in 2011. It gave him one of the defining releases of his career and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. Nothing Was the Same followed in 2013, with Started From the Bottom among its best-known tracks. His 2015 releases included If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and What a Time to Be Alive, a joint project with Future.
Views came out in 2016 and included One Dance. Hotline Bling also became central to that period of his career and earned two Grammy Awards in 2017. The 2018 album Scorpion brought God’s Plan, Nice for What, and In My Feelings. Drake continued with Certified Lover Boy in 2021, the dance-focused Honestly, Nevermind, and his 21 Savage collaboration Her Loss in 2022, and For All the Dogs in 2023.
His work also includes collaborations with artists outside his own albums. Jay-Z appeared on Thank Me Later, and Drake later featured on recordings by other major rappers and singers. Readers interested in the business side of hip-hop can also see IrishPublic’s Jay-Z biography. These collaborations sit alongside Drake’s solo work, but they should not be confused with albums released under his name.
The Recording Academy’s Drake profile lists five Grammy wins and 56 nominations through the 2026 awards. Its record includes his win for Take Care and his 2026 nomination for Somebody Loves Me with PARTYNEXTDOOR. Awards are one part of his career record; his album releases and chart results show how often he has returned with new work across two decades.
Drake’s Music in 2025 and 2026
Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR released the collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U in February 2025. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The project joined Drake with an artist closely tied to OVO Sound and placed their shared R&B style at the center of a full album.
In May 2026, Drake released ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR. All three entered the Billboard 200 at the top of the chart, in that order. It was the first time one act had held the chart’s top three positions at once since the Billboard 200 began its regular weekly run in 1956. That release is the clearest recent update to his music career and belongs in any biography dated 2026.
OVO Sound and Business Work
Drake helped create October’s Very Own, widely known as OVO, as his music career grew. OVO Sound became a record label, and its official site names Drake, producer Noah 40 Shebib, and Oliver El-Khatib as its founders. The label’s artist roster includes PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan, dvsn, and Roy Woods. OVO gave Drake a way to release music and work with other artists through a team based on relationships he had built over time.
His official Drake-related site also connects his name to October’s Very Own, NOCTA, DreamCrew, and Better World Fragrance House. These ventures extend beyond record sales, although a brand association does not reveal the value of his ownership or his personal profit. His work with OVO Sound remains the clearest example of how he built a business around his music.
Drake’s Height
The old article lists Drake at 6 feet (183 cm). It also gives exact figures for his weight, chest, waist, biceps, and shoe size. Those measurements can change or lack a dependable source, so they do not belong in a current fact box without stronger evidence. His acting credits, music, and family offer readers firmer biographical details.

Drake Family and Relationships
Drake’s parents are Sandi and Dennis Graham. His son, Adonis Graham, was born in 2017. Adonis’s mother is artist Sophie Brussaux. Drake addressed fatherhood on Scorpion in 2018 and has since shared selected moments with his son. The old article’s entry that says Drake has no children is incorrect and should not appear in the updated profile.
Drake’s relationships have drawn frequent attention, but photographs, lyrics, and online speculation do not establish a dating history. A long list of alleged girlfriends would give readers more certainty than the evidence supports. His son and parents are relevant to his biography; claims about a current partner need reliable, direct support before publication.

The draft’s $250 million net worth figure should not be presented as a verified amount for 2026. A published estimate used that number in 2023, but it does not establish the value of Drake’s assets and debts three years later. Music royalties, concerts, business ventures, and brand agreements may contribute to his income. Their public visibility does not provide enough information to calculate a precise personal net worth.

From Jimmy Brooks to the 2026 Albums
Drake’s career began in front of a television camera. He played Jimmy Brooks for years, released mixtapes during that period, and then built a music career with So Far Gone and Thank Me Later. Albums such as Take Care, Views, and Scorpion show the range of songs that brought him sustained chart success. OVO Sound added another part to his work, with a label and a roster of artists beyond his solo releases.
His 2026 albums put a current date on that story. ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR occupied the Billboard 200’s top three positions in the same week. The result belongs beside his earlier acting role, breakthrough mixtape, Grammy wins, and work with OVO Sound as a documented part of Drake’s biography.

Conclusion
Drake built one of the strongest runs in modern music. He blended rap and R&B without a seam. He turned personal notes into global hits. And he led a team, built a brand, and gave his city a clear voice. He made the charts feel like a home game. He then used that platform to lift new names and to give back.
His height, weight, and stats give a surface view. The real story sits in work, patience, and range. He stayed in studio rooms for nights on end. He tested beats that no one else would touch. And he risked a dance album when the world expected more of the same. He showed that change can win if the heart stays true.
New albums will come. New records will fall. And new stars will rise under his wing. One fact will not change. Drake turned a local dream into a global canon. His songs will keep playing at parties, in cars, and in quiet rooms where people need a line to hold. That line often comes from him. That legacy will last.
