A childhood in the Bronx
Ice Spice grew up in the Bronx, surrounded by a large family and the sounds of New York hip-hop. Her parents separated when she was young. They both worked, so she spent considerable time with her grandparents and cousins. Her father, Joseph Gaston, pursued rap himself.
Ice Spice has spoken about hearing artists such as 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and the Wu-Tang Clan through him. Her mother is Charina Almanzar. Ice Spice is the eldest of six siblings, including her younger brother Joey Gaston. She attended Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers and graduated in 2018. Later, she studied communications at SUNY Purchase and played volleyball. She had already written poetry and freestyle raps before she began recording songs.

Ice Spice Family and Relationships
Ice Spice has discussed her parents and siblings in interviews, but she keeps parts of her personal life private. She spoke about dating someone in 2023 without identifying that person. In a July 2024 interview, she said she was single. That statement describes her situation at the time; it cannot establish her relationship status in September 2026.
Her faith also needs careful wording. Ice Spice attended a Catholic school and has said that she prays regularly. She has also said she was never baptized. Her comments support describing her as religious, but they do not establish that she identifies with a specific Christian denomination.

How her music career began
At college, Ice Spice met producer RIOTUSA. Their work together helped her develop the sound that brought her early attention: concise verses over drill-influenced beats, delivered in an unhurried voice. She released Bully Freestyle in 2021, followed by tracks including No Clarity and Name of Love. The decisive release came in August 2022. Munch (Feelin’ U) caught on through short videos and introduced her to listeners far beyond New York. Ice Spice followed that moment with “Bikini Bottom” and “In Ha Mood.” Her EP, Like…? arrived in January 2023. The run showed that she could build on the attention around “Munch” with more releases of her own.
The collaborations that took her further
In 2023, Ice Spice appeared on PinkPantheress’s Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2. She also joined Nicki Minaj for a remix of Princess Diana and recorded “Barbie World” with Minaj and Aqua for the Barbie soundtrack. Her feature on the remix of Taylor Swift’s Karma brought her voice to another audience. These songs made 2023 the defining year of her early career.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Ice Spice received four nominations: Best New Artist, Best Rap Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media for Barbie World, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Karma.” She did not win in those categories.
Y2K! and her recent work
Ice Spice released her first studio album, Y2K!, on July 26, 2024. Its tracks include Think U the Shit (Fart) and Did It First, her collaboration with Central Cee. The album marked a step beyond the short releases that first made her famous. Her recording career has continued after Y2K!. On August 28, 2026, she and Lil Yachty released “Out My Face (My Baby).”
Breakout and Growth
Her early singles sparked huge numbers on social feeds. Snippets turned into full tracks that ran across playlists. The catch in each hook made the songs travel. A few lines would loop in your mind on the first play. That is a rare skill and a major edge in modern rap. She then moved from single drops to full sets and bigger plans. She kept the tone New York and kept the hooks bright. Each visual matched the sound. Colors hit hard. Cuts stayed tight. The look felt stylish yet simple. Fans could copy the vibe and join the wave.
Craft and Studio Habits
She writes in a direct style. Short lines stack clean. Rhyme schemes feel light but hide control. She places ad-libs where they lift the hook, not where they crowd the bar. She likes beats with bounce and room. Drums hit, but the midrange stays open. Her voice then sits clear on top. She tracks many takes and picks the most honest one. She trims lines that do not help the song. And she will change a word if it gives the bar more snap. She protects the mix and the master. That care shows in streams and in clubs.
Live Shows
Ice Spice treats the stage like home. She works the front rows and keeps eye contact. Choreography stays simple so the focus stays on the voice. A tight set list keeps the energy high. The crowd gets hits early and then deeper cuts. She ends on a chant so the room walks out still humming.
Net Worth
The same applies to its $8 million net worth claim. Ice Spice earns money from music and related commercial work, but an exact personal net worth cannot be calculated from her releases or public appearances alone. A dollar figure would be guesswork without credible financial evidence.
Current Net Worth: $8 million
Income Source: Singing and rapping.
Debut: First song: Bully Freestyle (March 5, 2021).
